The Service Course: Polanco, Mexico City

The Service Course: Polanco, Mexico City

With a population of 22 million people it’s no wonder that the Mexico City cycling community is quietly booming, with a whole world of inspiration to be discovered on and off the bike. Hovering at 2,200m above sea level, and with barely a flat kilometre to be found, a morning spin from the city centre can be characterised as demanding and delightful in equal measure. Escape the city limits entirely, and you’ll soon be scaling enormous active volcanoes, spoiled with spectacular panoramic views, and flying down never ending descents at lightning speed.

But two things define Mexico City cycling more than anything - the infectious warmth and enthusiasm of its community ready to welcome you with open arms, and the incredible food to enjoy before, during and after, ranging from sensational street tacos to some of the world’s most celebrated fine dining restaurants.

The Service Course Mexico City is located in a charming back street in the undeniably chic neighbourhood of Polanco, with some of the city’s best shopping, restaurants, cultural venues and green spaces just moments away.

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by our passionate team, ready to give you the full tour of the spacious property, showcasing an eclectic array of world class custom bikes along the way. Long standing partners such as Argonaut (Bend, Oregon), Bastion (Melbourne, Australia), Belle (Barcelona, Spain), Curve (Melbourne, Australia) and ENVE (Ogden, Utah) are mixed in with more recent additions such as Scarab (Medellín, Colombia), Moots (Steamboat Springs, Colorado), and BMC (Grenchen, Switzerland), making for a truly international celebration of beautiful, high performance bikes.

The latest The Service Course on and off bike clothing collections are proudly displayed alongside the world’s most premium accessory brands such as Sweet Protection, Poc, Alba Optics, Quoc and Nimbl, to name a few. And of course, it would not be The Service Course without a comprehensive line up of ENVE wheels and components, and a full service workshop ready to take care of your pride and joy.

And this is just the beginning; very soon we will be announcing details of our regular social group rides, a membership program and travel experiences (based from Mexico City as well as further afield exploring the best of the country’s riding), as well as opening our sister cafe and restaurant “Auna”, located in the same building and spearheaded by world renowned chef Jorge Vallejo. Jorge is the brains behind Quintonil, ranked number 9 restaurant in the world in 2022, with his talents recognized by the Estrella Damm 2022 Chef's Choice Award , the only award voted for by chefs in The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2022.

“I’m really excited to open a new location in Mexico City because there is such a huge cycling community in Mexico (and Latin America more broadly) so it’s fantastic to bring The Service Course to the local community and make the brand so much more accessible to a wider audience in the process. After spending a week in Mexico City I’ve been nothing but impressed with how warm and welcoming the cycling community is here, there are big bunches going out on a daily basis and every single person we met was just really happy to be out on the road and riding their bikes. We have a large North American customer base and I think they’re going to be really excited to experience The Service Course in Mexico - to have the store situated in the heart of Polanco gives our customers the opportunity to experience the incredible food, culture and local way of life in the city and then escape to the mountains to enjoy the fantastic riding and incredible natural beauty." - Simon Gerrans, The Service Course CEO

“Mexico has an amazing community of cyclists with a huge desire to connect through a shared passion for riding together. There is a clear opportunity to bring a whole new experience around cycling, F&B and a membership club to the city, and this new concept seeks to change how a bike store interacts with the customer, making them feel at home with a strong sense of belonging which in the end translates into friendships for life, on and off the bike. For years, the cycling community here in Mexico has been underserved, there were just a few options in the market without a strong enough value proposition, and I believe that The Service Course arrives in the right moment when people are looking to build a social life around cycling and evolve from being a hobby to a lifestyle that offers so much more than cycling. Personally I am excited to drive positive change in the cycling culture and community here in Mexico as part of building an inspiring and authentic global brand." - Pascual Orestano, The Service Course MX

“Bringing an amazing brand of cycling to this amazing city is a dream come true for the Mexico cycling community. Every day we meet and ride and there’s always a smile, it’s a big family you can always count on. I’m really excited to connect with new people in beautiful places, bringing happiness and togetherness, and creating life changing experiences on and off the bike.” - Tony Morodo, The Service Course MX
